When you stay with us at Parkhead House as well as a fantastic stay we like to offer amazing experiences you won't find anywhere else. So why not make special memories of your visit and book one of our experiences with local crafts people?

One of the most popular ways to spend a morning or afternoon is making a walking stick with our incredibly good friend James McMorran. He has a small shed at the bottom his garden where he produces unique walking sticks from wood found locally on his many walks around Hopetoun.

As you can see, he enjoys meeting people and will make you feel so relaxed. You will learn something on your visit, and he may even learn something from you. This is the day one of our guests, the famous American actor Brooke Shields, taught him how to cut tape. So you really can teach old dogs new tricks!

Visit Jim McMorran

A wee visit to Jim can be arranged for most mornings or afternoons during your stay with us at a cost of £75.00 for two people. He will be guided by you on what you want to know, from how his sticks are made or how he chooses the wood.

You can purchase and adjust your own walking stick there and then. So, if you are looking for a unique Scottish gift and memory, this experience is hard to beat.

Meet Brian and spend some time with this award-winning Scottish portrait and urban environmental photographer out and about doing what he does best - on the spot, street portraits. Or perhaps you would simply like an amazing portrait of a loved one?

Then Brian is your man! We are so lucky to have him stay close to Parkhead House and arrangements can be made (sometimes at short notice) for you to meet up and plan your adventures, you only need to ask. If you are interested in this experience, then we will drop you a note just to ask for more details of what you want to do so it is best if you give us as much notice as you can then we can make your time even more special.

He was shortlisted for the Scottish Portrait Awards Exhibition in 2020 Street/Environmental Portraits.

The cost of this experience varies but expect to pay between £75 and £300 depending on time spent with Brian and what you wish to do when you meet.
